ETRI Applies Highly Reliable Aircraft OS to Rail and Nuclear Industries
A local research team has expanded an operating system(OS) that controls computer systems of aircrafts for use in rail and nuclear industries.

ETRI signed an agreement with KEPCO Engineering & Construction(CEO Koo-Woun Park) to evaluate the expansion of Qplus-Air, a highly reliable real-time operating system used in aerospace and defense, to the nuclear industry. In addition, an MOU was signed with the Korea Railroad Research Institute(President Ki-hwan Kim) for the standardization of railway components.
ETRI plans to apply Qplus-Air to the rail industry to facilitate the standardization of railway components. The OS will also be evaluated in terms of its applicability to man-machine interface systems(MMIS) in nuclear power plants.

With the diversification of nuclear MMIS functions, there has been an increasing emphasis on software and OS technologies. If the OS is adopted following the applicability evaluation, it will contribute significantly to enhancing self-reliance in software and nuclear MMIS technologies.
