Korean OS NanoQplus Open Global Remote Metering
On April 30, ETRI won a project worth 2.5 billion KRW from the APDC(Assam Power Distribution Company) in India. The project will feature NanoQplus, an operating system independently developed by ETRI, to be installed as an IoT operating system.

The responsible entity for this smart grid project is Nuri Telecom which has been receiving customized technological support under a SME support program of ETRI.

This project will benefit about 15,000 households by establishing commercial, industrial, household, and Advanced Metering Infrastructure(AMI), storing sunlight and solar energy, and managing the maximum load of electricity.

ETRI and Nuri Telecom jointly conducted performance tests for stable data transmission in a wireless IoT environment and applied to commercial remote metering product.
In order to ensure stabilized data transmission, ETRI has cooperated with companies participating in the customized technological support program to secure stable technologies that can be applied to large-scale wireless networks which is transmittable at least 95 percent of data, through the performance test involving 2,000 IoT devices.

Nuri Telecom successfully applied the ETRI's NanoQplus technology to commercial AMI products by utilizing newly introduced wireless frequencies. Developed as part of a project sponsored by the Korean government(MSIP), NanoQplus has led to nine technology transfer cases with Nuri Telecom, RadioPulse, and other companies.

Dr. Heung Nam Kim, President of ETRI, said “ETRI will continue providing full support to the customized technological support project to ensure that many businesses successfully enter overseas markets as Nuri Telecom did.”
