ETRI Develops Self-interference Cancellation Technology for Satellite FrequencyETRI Develops Self-interference Cancellation Technology for Satellite Frequency

ETRI developed technology capable of canceling the self-interference of satellite frequencies so that the frequency usage efficiency can be improved by up to twofold. To be more specific, the technology overlaps the frequencies of transmitting and receiving radio waves, and isolates terminal signals from the overlapped frequencies. The application of the technology is expected to increase the number of assigned channels twofold, compared to existing technology, and reduce costs.

Following the successful localization of software for LTE Small Cell, which is used in the same manner as wireless access points operating within tens of meters to 1 km, while serving as a small base station, ETRI researchers began research to localize small cell equipment essential to establishing 5G infrastructure going forward. The focus of the research is on the development of technology capable of increasing the maximum transmission speed (eMBB), which is one of the most critical criteria for 5G technology, and especially the perceived transmission speed on the user side.

ETRI showcased its cutting-edge ICT solutions at the Internationale Funkausstellung (IFA), the world’s largest trade fair for consumer electronics, held in Berlin, Germany. The trade fair was held for six days from August 31st (Friday). ETRI researchers presented five cutting-edge technologies at the fair, as follows.
▲ Virtual Infrastructure Solution for High-speed Cloud Service, ▲ Ultra-low Latency Optical Access Technology, ▲ Semiconductor Chip for Vision Intelligence, ▲ Harmful Media Detection and Blocking Technology, and ▲ Human Body Communications Technology.
