ㅇ 요약 : The power electronics and Wide-Band Gap (WBG) semiconductor devices are key enabling technologies for the sustainable future. They are important tools to be employed to master growing global demand for electric energy and the threat of climate change. Introduction of silicon carbide (SiC) devices in power electronics systems used in generation, distribution and consumption of electricity results in significant improvement of system efficiency and spectacular energy savings. In order to accelerate adoption of the WBG devices it is necessary to prove and quantify advantages for different applications and ascertain reliability and robustness of commercial devices. RISE Acreo AB has over 20 years of experience and competence in WBG technology and device development based on simulations and performance analysis. In this paper, author presents selected examples from the research and industrial development projects in the areas of device design, characterization and reliability. Specific examples of device studies are modelling and characterization of diodes and MOSFETs for system analysis, short circuit and cosmic radiation robustness, oxide reliability and threshold voltage stability and power cycling capability.
