The Electron Backscatter Diffraction (EBSD) is the most powerful analysis tool for orientation study on the polycrystalline materials. In this seminar, I would like to introduce the basic principles of EBSD, sample preparations which are crucial for both highly qualitative and quantitative EBSD measurement, and FSE (Forward Scattered Electron) Imaging method. Furthermore, Details of texture analysis will be explained: determination of materials orientation, various presentation method of orientation such as Pole Figure, Inverse Pole Figure, and Orientation Distribution Function. Lastly, I will introduce the latest advances in the field of Transmission Kikuchi Diffraction (TKD) & ASTAR (TEM-EBSD) for nano crystalline materials analysis which are rapidly increasing in its application for ultrafine metallic grains and functional nano materials research.
